Robert Ernest Sutter

Robert (Bob) Ernest Sutter, at the age of 77, passed away early morning Tuesday, February 16, 2023, after a long battle with COPD and various complications. He was surrounded by his family in his final days and passed peacefully. Bob was born on September 16, 1945, to his parents Jack and Lillian Sutter in Chicago, Illinois. Bob met his wife Carolyn (Carrie) on a blind date while she was attending college in Grand Rapids, Michigan and they married on July 30th 1966. They were married 56 and a half years and raised three children Vickie, Becky, and Robert. They lived in their beautiful farmhouse located in Grand Junction for more than 52 years. Bob worked at Rockwell Factory in Allegan and retired from there. He was an outdoorsman and loved to hunt, fish, and won several sharpshooting competitions. He is fondly remembered for riding around town on his red scooter while wearing a Hawaiian shirt. He loved karaoke and often sang to Johnny Cash. He was a large storyteller, and would strike up a conversation with anyone who would listen.

Bob is survived by his wife, Carrie, twin daughters Vickie (Dan) Merz and Becky (Eric) Fehr, and son Robert (Kyla) Sutter, his sister-in-law Donna Sutter, and numerous nieces and nephews. Bob and Carrie had had nine grandchildren, Cameron VanHorn, Arlo VanHorn, Abigail (Mason) Swinehart, Dustin Fehr, Ryan Fehr, Matti Fehr, Lindsey (Kyle) Grow, Mitchell Sutter, and Kasie Sutter. They proudly welcomed their first grandchild, Harrison, in 2021.

Bob is proceeded in death by his parents Jack & Lillian Sutter, his sister Dorothy (Ed) Lux, his brother Bill Sutter, and his son-in-law Scott VanHorn.

In leu of a funeral, the family has decided to have a private memorial to honor Bob.
