Obituary

went home peacefully to be with his Lord and Savior on February 27, 2011 at Hospice in North Carolina. Raymond was born in Allegan Twp., MI. on August 30, 1911 to Lloyd Day Ellis and Grace Pulsipher Ellis. He is preceded in death by his parents, his siblings; Margaret (Marge and Bob) VanderVeen, Virginia (Johnny) Leonardson, and Basil (Freda) Ellis, his wife Esther Clawson Ellis, and his wife Roxanne Bos Ellis. He is survived by his children; Eileen Thompson, Ruth (Cecil) Winterowd, Philip (Barbara) Ellis, and Gary (Patti) Ellis, four step-daughters ; Charlene Large, Becky Bowlby, Reva Pearson, and Margie Martin, his grandchildren, great-grandchildren, cousins, and nieces and nephews. A resident of Allegan until his retirement from Rockwell, Int., Raymond lived for nearly forty years in Zephyrhills, Fl. After his first wife, Esther, passed away, he was blessed with a second marriage to Roxie and, after her death early last year, lived his final year in North Carolina near his daughter, Ruth and her family. Raymond was deeply committed to a life serving Jesus Christ and despite being blind nearly all of his life, he was able to do so many things and was always interested in supporting and caring for others. Prior to working 30 years at Blood Brothers/Rockwell Standard in Allegan, he also had a bicycle repair shop, rug-weaving shop, and various other jobs. He was faithfully committed to attending the Church of God where he lived. His family and friends always knew he was remembering them in his daily prayers. Friends may visit with the family on Friday, March 4, from 5-7 p.m. at the Gorden Funeral Residence, Allegan Chapel, where funeral services will take place at 11 a.m. on Saturday the 5th. His dear friend Pastor Bruce Assaf will officiate. Interment in Hudson Corners Cemetery in Allegan. The family suggests that donations be made to the Otsego or Allegan Church of God.
