Rainen Andrew Richards, 24, of Paw Paw was tragically taken from us June 19th, 2023.
Rainen was born May 12th, 1999 to Jessica Richards. He came into this world a fighter with his twin, best friend, and often sparring partner, Devin. They were instantly welcomed into this world by their big sister and hero, Hunter (even though they weren’t the sister she specifically requested).
Rainen, “Razor Ray” or “Ray” by friends and family, loved growing up in the country with a tight-knit family of his mom, siblings, cousins, uncles, aunts, grandparents, and even a few greats. Ray loved to go hunting and fishing with his grandpa and it was hard to keep him indoors long, which was true up until adulthood.
Rainen was a master at the art of a deal and could flip a toaster oven into a zero turn in less than a week’s time. This passion began as a child, repairing broken items given to him or, (much to his siblings’ dismay,) perfectly fine items he’d taken apart to sell or trade for larger things.
Rainen loved understanding how things worked and was the person you called anytime you needed something fixed. This was a trait his siblings hated as children, when he decided to take apart the new VCR player, but greatly appreciated as adults when their car started to make a funny sound. His tools were more valuable than gold to him. He was so mechanically gifted. We thought he really enjoyed fixing things, but we all know he thoroughly enjoyed a good deal.
But there was nothing Rainen loved more than being a Dad to his son Remington. Rainen used to say as a kid that he couldn’t wait to be a dad one day. Anyone lucky enough to see the smile on his face when he was holding his son could feel the unconditional love. He loved his son and was looking forward to teaching him to fish, taking him hunting, and getting his own bike one day. But most of all, Ray talked about being there for his son. From the moment Remington was born, everyone could see Ray shining bright through him.
The only thing bigger than Rainen’s smile was his heart; the only thing louder than his laugh was his pipes; and the only thing faster than his wit was his willingness to help out friends and family.
Rainen is survived by his son, Remington Ray Richards; his twin brother, Devin; his sister, Hunter; his mother, Jessica; his dog, Harley; his Papa and Nana, Jeffery and Soni; his uncles, Jeff and Josh; his great-grandmother, Patricia McLoud; and siblings, Cambry and Kennedy Dowler. He is preceded by his father, Jon-Paul Dowler.
The family will receive friends at Gorden Funeral Residence, Allegan Chapel, on Tuesday, June 27, 2023 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM. A celebration of Rainen’s life will begin at 1:00 PM at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the family.
