Philip Watson Obituary

Philip Wayne Watson, 44 of Plainwell, Michigan, passed away Monday, April 3, 2023 at his home.  Born December 7, 1978 in Conroe, Texas, he was the son of Mary (Carpenter) Johnson and the late Amos David Watson.  Philip was a very caring person who enjoyed being around people, especially his daughter, Heaven.  Spending time with Heaven and the rest of his family was something that Philip treasured.  Some of his favorite pastimes were fishing, hunting for rocks at Lake Michigan with his friends, Janice and Frank, or just being outside in nature.  One of his favorite things to do, although it aggravated those around him, was to poke people to get their attention or get them to look in a different direction.  Philip loved life in general and tried to enjoy every day.

Philip is survived by his mother and stepfather, Mary and Grant Johnson; his daughter, Heaven; six siblings, Charles Benitez, Richard Benitez, Stella Swindell, Elizabeth Johnson, Andrea Johnson, and David Watson; his aunts and uncles; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Philip’s name to Alcoholics Anonymous (checks made out to General Service Board and mailed to Post Office Box 2407, James A. Farley Station, New York, NY 10116-2407) or to Alano Club (933 S. Burdick Street, Kalamazoo, MI 49001).  A Celebration of Life took place this past weekend.
