Norman Raymond Smith, affectionately known as "Norm", passed away at the age of 59 in a motorcycle accident on September 24, 2023, in Kalamazoo, Michigan. Born on March 29, 1964, in Allegan, Michigan. A graduate of Allegan Public Schools, Norm was an accomplished woodworker and landscaper, showcasing his handy skills and creativity. His passion, hard work, discipline, and dedication led him to a successful career with Wolverine Hardwoods for 18 years and a recent promotion to retail sales. His colleagues would remember him as a friendly and reliable individual who was always ready to lend a helping hand. Norm was a person who loved and lived life to the fullest. A prankster at heart, he was known to play good-natured pranks on his friends and family, always leaving them with a hearty laugh. His smirky smile was a clear indication of the mischief he was planning, and it was this sense of humor that made him a joy to be around. Beyond his work and playful nature, Norm had a deep love for his family. He was a dedicated husband, a loving father, and a caring son and brother. His family was his rock, providing him with endless love and support. He was a beacon of strength and love for them, and his absence will be deeply felt. Norm was a man of many talents, but his greatest gift was his ability to bring everyone together from various walks of life. His mischievous nature, combined with his love for pranks, made him a truly unique and unforgettable character. To know Norm was to love him, he was always the first to help someone in need, always.
Norm is survived by his devoted wife of 13 years, Susan Smith, with whom he shared a loving relationship of 26 years. He is also survived by his proud parents, Norman and Valerie (Stough) Smith; his cherished children, Abbigail (Chris) Allen, Josh (Ciarrah) Oetman, and Chelsea Oetman; his siblings, Clay (Diane) Smith, and Vanessa (Greg) Sagodic; his sisters-in-law, Debbie Thomas and Cheryl Baker; his mother-in-law, Charlene Baker; grandchildren Tristan, Aubrie, and Christopher; and many nieces and nephews.
