Muriel Frances Mae (Russell) TerMeer

Muriel Frances Mae TerMeer passed away Wednesday, September 13, 2017 at her home. Born October 22, 1932 in Chatham, Ontario, Canada, Muriel was the oldest of four children born to the late Lawrence and Iola Russell. Muriel came to the States in 1951 when she married Edward Larsh. They moved from Detroit to Grand Rapids where she had two sons, Joe and Jerry. They divorced and she married Bernard "Butch" TerMeer in 1960. Together they had a daughter, Brenda, and a son, Bryan. Muriel was a homemaker for most of her life. She would always be outside tending to her large vegetable garden or flowers and loved all of her Irises in the Spring. Muriel was proud to become an American Citizen on July 12, 1994. Along with her parents, she was predeceased by her sisters, Jeanette and Gloria; her brother, Herb; her ex-husband, Ed; her husband, Butch, in 1994; and her daughter-in-law, Bonnie Larsh. Muriel is survived by Joe (Peggy) Larsh of Grand Rapids, MI, Jerry (Linda) Larsh of Tucson, AZ, stepdaughter, Mary Graves, of Holland, MI, Brenda (Steve) Geiger and Bryan TerMeer and girlfriend, Sue Snyder, all of Hopkins, MI, special sisters-in-law, Doris Pillon of Windsor, Ontario and Teddie Larche of Stoney Point, Ontario, several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren, along with several nieces and nephews both in the States and Canada. The family would like to thank Emmanuel Hospice for their loving care of Muriel in her home for her last months. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions for Muriel may be made to Emmanuel Hospice at 2161 Leonard Street, Grand Rapids, MI 49504; or the American Red Cross for the hurricane relief missions. The family will receive friends at Gorden Funeral Residence, Hopkins Chapel, on Friday, September 15, 2017 from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM. A funeral service will take place Saturday, September 16, 2017 at 2:00 PM at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Maplewood Cemetery.
