Merle Stone Obituary

Merle Russell Stone of Hopkins passed away on October 7, 2023, at his home surrounded by loved ones. Merle was born July 7, 1948 in Allegan, Michigan.

He spent his formative years in the Wayland area and graduated from Wayland school in 1966. He was married to the love of his life Patrica (Mayrand). Merle and Pat enjoyed 49 wonderful years together.

Merle’s career at Steelcase spanned decades and he retired in May 1999. Merle enjoyed time with family and friends, collecting tractors and watching old westerns. Merle led an outstanding well lived life.

He was preceded in death by His parents and siblings, a daughter Cheryl Rae (Taylor), and son James R. Stone. Merle is survived by his loving wife Pat and many beloved family members, friends, grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

A celebration of life will take place at a later date. Memorial donations may be made to Faith Hospice of Kent County
