Lavina Mae (Austin) Hotchkiss passed away on March 29, 2023, in Kentucky with her family by her side. Lavina was born on June 6, 1929, to her late parents Harlan and Della (Bush) Austin. Lavina would marry the love of her life Ogden “Bud” Hotchkiss and share many faithful years of marriage together. She loved nature and enjoyed spending time in the garden. Lavina would spend many hours pruning and growing all kinds of delicious vegetables in her beautiful quiet place. Her dedication to taking care of the garden was a direct reflection of how she loved and cared for her family. God was also a vital component to her daily life. Going to Church, bible studies, and serving the community was in her DNA. Another wonderful attribute was Lavina’s dry cleaner in Allegan. She would own and operate the dry cleaners since 1962, serving the community 40 faithful years. Lavina is deeply missed and leaves behind a legacy to be proud of. Her hard work, dedication, and discipline is something to be admired.
She is survived by her two daughters Lisa (Herbert) Niesche, and Sue Shepherd; grandchildren Maurizio, Magdalena, Lizabeth, Alexandra, Caleb, Anna, Jimmie, and Amy.
Lavina is preceded in death by her husband Ogden “Bud” Hotchkiss; siblings Eva Platt, James Austin, Charles Austin, Eugene Austin, and Harlen Austin.
