Joyce Marlene Coffey, 79, of Hamilton, MI passed away Tuesday, November 7, 2017 at Spectrum Health Butterworth Hospital in Grand Rapids. Born June 30, 1938 in Salem Township, she was the daughter of the late Marshall and Julia (Selby) Simmons. On June 14, 1957 she married Alvin Coffey and together they enjoyed nearly fifty-five years of marriage prior to his passing in 2011. Mrs. Coffey was dedicated to Hamilton Community Schools where she had worked as a bus driver for over twenty years. She was a longtime member of Diamond Springs Wesleyan Church. Nothing made Joyce happier, though, than having a home filled with love and family. Mrs. Coffey is survived by her children, Sandy Coffey, Mark Coffey and wife Nancy, Randy Coffey and wife Chelsea, Daryl Coffey and wife Elizabeth and Kevin Coffey and wife Rachel; her sister, Marilyn VanderWeg and husband Jim; brother, Merle Simmons and wife Pat; brother-in-law, Keith Coffey and wife Beverly; sister-in-law, Mary Coffey; eleven grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews too numerous to list. The family will receive friends at Diamond Springs Wesleyan Church on Friday, November 10, 2017 from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM and again on Saturday, November 11, 2017 from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM. A funeral service will begin at 11:00 AM. Burial will follow in Salem Township Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Diamond Springs Wesleyan Church Building Fund. Gorden Funeral Residence, Allegan Chapel, is assisting the family with arrangements.
