Allegan, MI, died Sunday, October 7, 2007 at the Allegan County Medical Care Facility. Mrs. Stuenkel was born March 5, 1921 in Downers Grove, IL, the daughter of Onofrio and Mary (Grace) Marfia. She was a resident of Allegan since 1942. She was a member of the Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, the Altar Society and the Ladies of Perpetual Help Circle. She was also a member of the Allegan Elks, the Allegan Music Club and the Allegan Community Players. She had been employed as a secretary at Blood Brothers, had worked at the Allegan Radio Station, was a bookkeeper for the family business, Allegan Construction Company, had been a payroll clerk for the Perrigo Company and had retired as a secretary from the Allegan County Health Dept. Surviving are 2 children, William and Yevette Stuenkel of Florida and Patricia Sanger and Patrick Irey of Allegan; 11 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; 2 brothers, Tony and Louise Marfia of Portage and Samuel and Virginia Marfia of Oregon; several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl, in 1990; daughter, Kathryn Thompson, in 1986, son, Charles, in 2006, and 3 brothers and 3 sisters, Ben, Joseph, Frank, Carmella, Mary Ann, and Frances. Friends may meet with the family from 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the Gorden Funeral Residence, Allegan Chapel, where the Rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at the Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church.
