Glenn Earl Reed Jr., 93 of Hamilton, Michigan, passed away Thursday, December 22, 2022 at the University of Michigan Health-West Hospital in Wyoming, Michigan. He was born May 15, 1929 in Muskegon, Michigan, to the late Glenn Sr. and Clarbelle (Mack) Reed. Glenn worked in construction most of his life but was also considered quite the handyman. He enjoyed travelling, especially in the Upper Peninsula, where he loved the beautiful landscape and fishing. He enjoyed his country music and being surrounded by his loving family, whether at home or at his “other home” at Sandy Pines. Glenn tried to remain active, so in his later years, when it was harder for him to get around, he enjoyed tooling around on his electric cart, typically with a grin on his face and possibly a great-grandchild on his lap. Being a father, grandfather and great-grandfather brought Glenn the most joy and his family always knew they were his world.
Those left to cherish his memory is his wife of almost 70 years, Dorothy; his son, Jeff Reed of Wyoming, Michigan; his daughter, Lori (John) Gates of Burnips, Michigan; two grandchildren, Tammi (Steve) Hamm of Holland, Michigan and Mindi (Ryan) Maycroft of Allegan, Michigan; three great-grandchildren, Myrtle Hamm, Maebel Hamm, and Josie Maycroft; one step-grandson, Steve (Jess) Elhart of Kentwood, Michigan; and two step great-grandsons, James Elhart and Lucas Elhart.
Friends may meet with the family at Gorden Funeral Residence, Hopkins Chapel, on Thursday, January 12, 2023 from 3:00 PM to 4:30 PM, at which time the Memorial Service will begin, Pastor Ronnie Ewing officiating. Glenn will be laid to rest in Salem Township Cemetery directly following the service. Memorial donations may be made in Glenn’s name to the Alzheimer’s Association, Michigan Chapter, 4081 Cascade Rd SE Suite 400, Grand Rapids, MI 49546.
