Allegan, MI, died Friday, January 11, 2008 at the Holland Community Hospital. Mr. Cornell was born September 6, 1922 in Allegan, the son of Roy and Mable Cornell. He was a member of the Allegan Wesleyan Church. He was a Veteran of the United States Army, having served during WWII, and was at the Battle of the Bulge. He retired from Plainwell Paper Company in the mid- 80's after 30 years of service. Surviving are 5 children and their spouses, Larry and Marilyn Allen of Martin, Doug and Marilyn Allen of Diamond Springs, Glenda and James Joseph of Holland, Morris and Jolene Cornell of Zeeland and Kathy Elenbaas of Allegan; 12 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; 2 brothers and their wives, Robert and Merle Cornell of Allegan and Lewis and Faye Cornell of Holland; 1 sister and her husband, Beverly and Chuck Johnson of Allegan; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Vada, 2 sisters, Mildred and Francine, and 1 brother, Lester. Family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Monday at the Gorden Funeral Residence, Allegan Chapel. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. at the Allegan Wesleyan Church. Pastors Marc Kelley and Mark Inman officiating. Interment Hudson Corners Cemetery, Allegan Twp. Memorials may be made to the Allegan Wesleyan Church.
