Calvin Carlton Covault passed away peacefully into the loving arms of his Savior March 17, 2024. Calvin (Cal) was born on the family farm September 7, 1932, to the late Ethel (Bergh) Covault and Clyde Covault Senior. Cal was taught hard work and to be willing to help others at a young age. Cal would carry these lessons his entire life. Cal was a veteran serving two years in the Navy with an Honorable Discharge. Cal at the age of eighteen began working at Rockwell International and would work for 30 years before retiring.
Cal always had to be busy, so he began working for B+G Custom Works for several years before hanging up the work boots for good in the early 2000’s. On June 4, 1954, he wed Roberta (Hare) Covault, and they spent 66 years of marriage together. In their young married life this was the only time Cal left the family farm. In this time, they would have three boys. Upon returning to the farm ten years later they would build their forever home and add a girl a year later. Cal and his young family were avid members of the Merson Church for years. Cal had many hobbies like racing his ponies and raising his Arabian horses.
Cal had a love for growing things and every year he had a big garden and beautiful rose bushes. He loved to feed his birds whether it was summer or winter. Cal was very handy at woodworking from making wooden toys for grandkids, to making his own tv stands. If you wanted something made, he could do it. Cal and his late wife enjoyed their Sunday outing for breakfast at Judy’s with the gang. He was also committed to his breakfast at the Methodist Church every month.
Cal is survived by his children Mark (Jackie) Covault, Randy (Diane) Covault, Bruce Covault, and Melinda Knapp; 10 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, and 4 great-great grandchildren.
Cal was preceded in death by his late wife Roberta (Hare) Covault, his parents Clyde Sr. and Ethel (Bergh) Covault; brother Clyde “Red” Covault Junior; daughter in law Kristie Covault; granddaughter Melissa (Emmons) Covault; and great grandson Kashton Knapp.
Cal will be laid to rest at a private family service later in the Trowbridge Methodist Cemetery.
