Allegan Twp., MI, died Monday, Sept. 3, 2007 at the Allegan Co. Medical Care Facility. Mrs. Gowens was born May 20, 1918 in Chicago, IL, the daughter of William and Estella (Bryant) Crews. She had worked for the Allegan County Farm for several years, the Allegan General Hospital for 12 years as a nurse's aide, and General Electric in Holland for 12 years. She also volunteered for Allegan County Social Services. Surviving are 2 daughters, Yvonne Gowens of Grand Rapids and Denise Simpson of Allegan; 2 grandchildren, Rinelle and Rochelle Simpson; 4 great grandchildren, Ebony, Katrina, Alex, and Xavier; 2 nieces and 1 nephew, Susan Stephenson, Judith Hayes and William Rogers, all of Chicago. She was preceded in death by her husband, Quinton Gowens in 1981, son, Quinton "Ricky" Gowens and sister, Hazel Rogers. Friends may meet with the family from 6-8 p.m. Friday at the Gorden Funeral Residence, Allegan Chapel. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at Christ Community Church, Allegan. Rev. G.
