William E. Sempert, 80, of Allegan, died Wednesday, October 6, 2010 at home. He was born June 2, 1930 in Benton Harbor, MI to William and Martha (Latislaw) Sempert, and attended school there. Bill served his country in the U.S. Air Force from 1951-55. He worked many years for Michigan Bell/AT&T, retiring in 1991. Bill was a member of the National Association for Amateur Radio, the Elks Lodge and American Legion. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed camping. Bill was preceded in death by his wife, Kathleen, in 1996. Surviving are his sister-in-law, Lois Reeder of Laporte, IN; several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews; and his special friend, Phyllis Hodge of Allegan. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 12, 2010 from 11:00am-1:00pm at Gorden Funeral Residence, 528 Trowbridge, Allegan, MI followed by funeral services at 1:00pm with Pastor Fred Perry officiating. Interment will follow at Oakwood Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
