Allegan, MI, died Saturday, September 15, 2007 at the Allegan General Hospital. Mr. Powers was born April 2, 1929 in Detroit, MI, the son of Bryce and Sarah (Regan) Powers. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during WWII and was a member of Christ Community Church, Allegan. He had worked as a deputy for the Allegan Co. Sheriff Dept. for 6 years and for the Garden City Hospital Security Guard for 20 years, retiring in 1991. Surviving are his wife, Betty (Johnson); 5 children, Mike and Juanita Powers of Colorado, Patti Summers of Massachusetts, Robin McAlister of Texas, Deb and Larry Belden and Connie and David Housworth, all of Allegan; 17 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; 1 brother, Robert and Beverly Powers of South Lyons; 1 sister, Sarah Horgea of Dearborn. He was preceded in death by 1 brother and 1 sister, and son-in-law, Perry McAlister. There will be no visitation. Memorial graveside services will be held Friday, Sept. 21, at 1 p.m. at Hudson Corners Cemetery, Allegan Twp. Rev. G. Patrick White officiating. Contributions may be made to Christ Community Church.
