Obituary

Allegan, MI, died Saturday, September 15, 2007 at the Allegan General Hospital. Mr. Powers was born April 2, 1929 in Detroit, MI, the son of Bryce and Sarah (Regan) Powers. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during WWII and was a member of Christ Community Church, Allegan. He had worked as a deputy for the Allegan Co. Sheriff Dept. for 6 years and for the Garden City Hospital Security Guard for 20 years, retiring in 1991. Surviving are his wife, Betty (Johnson); 5 children, Mike and Juanita Powers of Colorado, Patti Summers of Massachusetts, Robin McAlister of Texas, Deb and Larry Belden and Connie and David Housworth, all of Allegan; 17 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; 1 brother, Robert and Beverly Powers of South Lyons; 1 sister, Sarah Horgea of Dearborn. He was preceded in death by 1 brother and 1 sister, and son-in-law, Perry McAlister. There will be no visitation. Memorial graveside services will be held Friday, Sept. 21, at 1 p.m. at Hudson Corners Cemetery, Allegan Twp. Rev. G. Patrick White officiating. Contributions may be made to Christ Community Church. Arrangements by the Gorden Funeral Residence, Allegan Chapel.
