Obituary

William E. Phillips, 74 of Allegan, died Saturday, January 3, 2004 at the Allegan General Hospital. Mr. Phillips was born January 3, 1930 in Chicago, IL the son of Albert and Hattie (Archer) Phillips. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army Air Corps serving during the Korean Conflict. He had been a real estate salesman for Stan Brokus Realty, a partner in BPH Developers, and then went to work for and with his son, Craig at B& C Emporium. Bill had been a charter member of the Allegan County Historical Society and was very involved in the Historical Village at the Allegan County Fairgrounds. He was a member and past Worshipful Master of the Allegan Masonic Lodge F&AM #78, the American Legion Post #89 and the 40/8, Allegan Kiwanis Club, and the Regent Theater Board. Bill enjoyed organizing benefit dinners and breakfasts for the American Legion and Masonic Lodge. Surviving are his wife, Anne; 1 son, Craig both of Allegan. The family will receive friends Monday from 2-4 and 6-8 at the Gorden Funeral Residence, Allegan Chapel, where services will be held Tuesday 11:00 am. Pastor Barry Lucas officiating. Interment Oakwood Cemetery, Allegan. Memorial contributions may be made to the Allegan County Historical Society or the American Legion 40/8.
