of Allegan, died Wednesday, October 19, 2011 at the Allegan County Medical Care Facility. Mr. Gibson was born June 30, 1916, in Monterey Twp., the son of Grover and Anna (Westfall) Gibson. Woodie graduated from Allegan High School in 1935. He was a Veteran of the United States Army, serving in WWII. He was a long time member of the First Presbyterian Church, and was very involved with the Lions Club for many years. He worked for over 30 years with ServiceMaster. He loved to play cards, bowl, golf, and was frequently seen riding his motor scooter around town. He loved his family and had a wonderful sense of humor. Surviving are his 2 children; Woodie and Barb Gibson of Dorr, Greg Gibson of Allegan, daughter-in-law Barb Gibson of Plainwell, 6 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, his sister, Ardis McIntire of Iowa, sister-in-law, Jean Gibson of Allegan, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Lucille, his son Fred, brother George, and his sister,Vivian Duryea. Friends may visit with the family on Sunday from 2:30 - 4:30 at the Gorden Funeral Residence, Allegan Chapel. Following the visitation a memorial service will take place at 5:00 p.m. on Sunday at the First Presbyterian Church. Pastor Karen Fitz La Barge will officiate. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Wings of Hope Hospice or First Presbyterian Church.
