William Nelson Cobb, 79 of Allegan, Michigan, passed away Friday, November 20, 2020 at Ascension Borgess Hospital in Kalamazoo. Born October 24, 1941 in Kalamazoo, Michigan, he was the son of the late Ira and Freeona (Smith) Cobb and the husband of Barbara (Teachout) Cobb. William served proudly in the United States Army and worked 32 years for the United States Postal Service. While he was in the army stationed over in Europe, he raced Jaguar XKE's. In Kalamazoo he raced and held the record for the fastest lap at the Kalamazoo Speedway. His favorite race car was the super modified class. He is in the Galesburg Hall of Fame. Golfing and bowling were two of William's other enjoyments. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather and the memories made over the years will continue to bring smiles to his family's faces.
Along with his wife, Barbara, he is survived by his son, Randall Cobb; his daughter, Freeona "Christi" Davis; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and his sister, Patricia Duzan. William was preceded in death by his parents, Ira and Freeona; and two sisters, Gloria Martin and Antoinette Thomas.
