Hopkins Twp., MI, formerly of Coloma, died Friday, July 30, 2004 at his home. Mr. Bridgman was born June 12, 1922, in Daisy, TN, the son of John H. and Pearl E. (Ellison) Bridgman. He graduated from Coloma High School in 1943 and was a veteran of WWII serving in the 7th Infantry Division as a Staff Sargent in the Pacific. He retired from Quality Packaging in Benton Harbor. He enjoyed reading, traveling, spending time with his grandchildren, serving in his church, and had volunteered at the Community Hospital in Watervliet. He was a member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ in Watervliet and also Hopkins United Methodist Church. Surviving is the love of his life, Frances L. Webb, whom he married May 19, 1946. Also surviving are 5 children and their spouses, Diane and Louis Orth of Pierson, Joyce and Richard Rudowske, Sr. of Benton Harbor, Brenda and Robert Zapolnik of Hopkins, Jeanne and Bruce Hutchins of Vermont and Pastor Bill and Cindy Bridgman, Jr. of Burton; 12 grandchildren, Kari (Mark) Boverhof, Louis (Mandy) Orth, Richard (Maya) Rudowske, Jr., Jennifer (Jerry) Powell, Kimberly (Dan) Longden, Christopher (Kristi) Rudowske, Rachel(Kalvin) Miller, Tony, Katie, and Michael Zapolnik, and Nicholas and Michael Jabour; 5 great grandsons and 2 great granddaughters; 1 brother and his wife, John and Lynn Bridgman of California; special friend, Joseph Jabour of Vermont. He was preceded in death by 2 grandsons, Dale and Aaron Orth. There will be no visitation. Memorial services will be held Sunday, August 22, at 2 p.m. at the Hopkins United Methodist Church. Rev. Bill Bridgman, Jr. officiating. Interment Coloma Twp Cemetery with military honors. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Hopkins United Methodist Church or St. Paul's United Church in Christ, Watervliet.
