passed away at home with his family at his side on Friday, November 2, 2012. William was born June 16, 1945 in Huntington, West Virginia, son of Earl and Viola (Childers) Blake. He was an employee for 17 years to the Allegan County Road Commission with which he retired on September 8, 2009. William was an Army Veteran who served in Vietnam. He is survived by his wife Melverna, his daughter Nichole, and his grandson Hunter Blake, whom he loved very much. They loved him dearly as well. Also surviving are his sisters, Delilah, Mary Martha and his brother Robbie. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers, Oscar John and Clinton Ballard, his sisters, Bertha Ann and Betty Jane. William could tell a good joke but also appreciate one as well. He was a man of his word, who will be deeply missed. Friends may meet with the family for a Remembrance Gathering on Saturday, November 10, 2012, from 4-7 P.M., at the Gorden Funeral Residence, Allegan Chapel. Memorial Contributions may be made for Hunter's Education, made payable to Hunter Blake, 858 37th Street, Allegan, Michigan 49010. Arrangements by Gorden Funeral Residence, Allegan Chapel.
