William Joseph Barker, Ogemaw Kinew (Chief Eagle), the son of Charles Barker, of Olive Hill, Kentucky, and Carol Ann Barker (Bush), Wanigas Kwe (Rainbow Woman), of Bradley, Michigan, departed this world on Friday, August 25th, 2017 of a severe brain aneurism. William was a proud citizen of the Match-E-Be-Nash-She-Wish (the Gun Lake Tribe) Band of Potawatomi Indians and resident of the Bradley Indian Settlement. He leaves behind his daughters, Randi Michelle (25), Caitlin Renae (21), Isabelle Deborah (16), his son Matthew Joseph (12) brother Franklin Jerry Barker Wshub Sin (Blue Stone), sister-in-law Christine Mitchell Mskwaga (Red Cloth), nephews Frank Ngigoons Barker Wasabikozi (Stone when it Shines) Finneas Franklin Mitchell Desanat ni Migwenen (He Spreads His Feathers), and niece Rebecca Rae Rupe Nenookazhi Kwe (Humming Bird Woman). Willie is proceeded in death by his mother, Carol, and grand parents: Frank and Marceline Bush, and Clifford and Jane Barker. William was a 1990 graduate of Wayland Union High School. He excelled in basketball sporting a twenty points per game average and was a huge fan of the band Def Leppard-attending over seventeen concerts and several VIP parties! Neshnabe Burial Services will be conducted at 10 o'clock on Thursday, August 31, 2017, with well wishers welcome any time prior, at the Luella Collins Community Center, 419 126th Ave, Shelbyville, Michigan. Interment will follow at the Bradley Indian Cemetery. Service Information
