Cheshire Twp., Allegan, MI, died Wednesday, August 1, 2007 in Harrisville, Michigan. Mr. Sweet was born January 11, 1944 in Allegan, the son of Howard and Mary June (Hale) Sweet. He was a graduate of Allegan High School, class of 1962, and graduated with honors from Western Michigan Univ. in 1992 with a B.S. in Sociology. He had been employed at the Allegan County Youth Home for 14 years, retiring in 2006. He enjoyed hummingbird watching, music, woodworking in his shop, playing cards, was a great chef, and loved all sports, especially golfing. He also loved fishing and being outdoors. Surviving are his wife Carol (Miller); 2 children, Andrew Sweet of Plainwell and Amy (Doug) Rader of Allegan; 4 grandchildren, Emily, Collin, Brittany, and Cambria; 2 brothers and 1 sister, Rod Sweet, Dan Sweet and June (Roger) Herpst, all of Allegan; several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins. Memorial services will be held Monday, Aug. 13, at 3 p.m. at the Gorden Funeral Residence, Allegan Chapel. Following the service, a luncheon will be served at Eagle Creek Golf Course, Allegan. Contributions may be made to West MI Cancer Center or Dollars for Scholars.
