of Allegan, died Thursday, December 10, 2009. Mrs. Carns was born November 18, 1927, in Hopkins Twp., the daughter of Frank and Kate (Halstead) Calkins. Wanda graduated from Hopkins High School in 1945. On September 28, 1946, Wanda Calkins married Roger Carns. She was a member of the First Congregational Church in Allegan, where she had taught Sunday School for many years. She was a leader at 4-H, and loved helping her husband and children on the family farm, she was a loving wife, mother and grandmother and will be sadly missed by her family. Surviving are her husband, Roger, 4 children; Bruce and Ann Carns of Allegan, Janet and Bill Nagel of Montana, Cheryl and Keaven Noteboom of Hudsonville and Brian and Gia Carns of Allegan, 12 grandchildren; Troy and Keli, Shane, Melissa Carns, Tonya and Sam Goodenough, Clay, Travis and Crystal Nagel, Stacey and Bob Shilander, Joy and Alex Lamfers, Amanda and Shad VanStedum, Kelly, Chris, Conner and Cooper Carns, 17 great grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her 3 sisters, Marian Zoll, Lydia Holland and Norma Mohney. Friends may meet with the family on Tuesday from 2-4 and 6-8 pm at the Gorden Funeral Residence, Allegan Chapel, where funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 11 am. Pastor Barry Lucas will officiate. Interment Hudson Corners Cemetery, Allegan Twp. Memorials may be made to the First Congregational Church or the Wings of Hope Hospice.
