Obituary

CURTIS, Walter R. "Curt" of Allegan Twp., MI. Curt and his family came to Allegan in 1962. He retired in 1990 after spending 35 years as a member of the International Brotherhood of Boilermakers, during which time he worked on various nuclear plants and community projects in the tri-state area. He worked out of Chicago, commuting each week then returning home on the weekends to be with his family and "supervise" duties on the family farm in Allegan Township. After retirement he enjoyed working in the garden and finally being able to be at home in Allegan full time. Curt died at home on Sunday, April 7, surrounded by his family and friends. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Virgie (McDonald) and their 5 children, Michael and Betty Curtis of Grand Rapids, Peg Curtis of Fairfield, CA, Stephen and Theresa Curtis of Allegan, Mark and Michelle Curtis of Hamilton and Kim Curtis of Grand Haven. Virgie and Curt have 8 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren; also surviving are 2 sisters, Ruth Stinson of Eldorado, IL and Louise Perry of Naples, FL. He was preceded in death by a sister, Emma Jean Bradley from Kankakee, IL. He will also be missed by his dog, Jake, and special family friends, Carol Fisher, Teresa Dawes and Sue Moline. A time to visit with the family and share memories will be held Thursday from 4-6 p.m. at the Gorden Funeral Residence, Allegan Chapel, with a closing prayer service by Chaplain Bill Brady at 5:45 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Wings of Hope Hospice and Palliative Care, Inc., 530 Linn St., Ste.
