Hopkins, MI, died Wednesday, January 2, 2008 at her home. Mrs. Brinkert was born April 7, 1917, in Byron Center, the daughter of Bernard and Lucille (Patterson) Barber. She was a member of the Hopkins Community Reformed Church, and had worked for more than 30 years with the Hopkins Public School System as a secretary to the Superintendent as well as the Business Manager. Surviving are her son, Jerry and Charlene Brinkert of Allegan; grandson, Ben of Allegan; sister, Ruth and Al Curths of Jenison; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, James. A memorial service will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at the Hopkins Community Reformed Church with a luncheon to follow. Private interment will take place in Maplewood Cemetery, Hopkins Twp. Pastor Mark Kampers officiating. Memorials may be made to the Church or Allegan County Animal Shelter.
