OBITUARY Virginia Maxine Chandler, 79 of Allegan, passed away Saturday, March 16, 2002 at the Allegan County Medical Care Facility after a brief illness. Mrs. Chandler was born March 1, 1923 in Benton Harbor, MI the daughter of Walter and Jesse (Curtis) Moorehead. She graduated from Battle Creek Lakeview High School and was a longtime resident of Allegan. Virginia worked at Culligan for many years and was also known for her many years of catering in the Allegan area. She had volunteered extensively throughout the community. Surviving are her husband, Robert Clare Chandler, whom she was married to for 58 years, 1 daughter-in-law; Luana Chandler of Kalamazoo, 1 sister; Doris Calhoun of Akron, OH, 1 brother; Walter Moorehead of Detroit, 2 granddaughters; Kimberly Chandler of Kalamazoo, Koren Chandler of Albuquerque, NM, several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her son Wendell Chandler, 3 sisters and 3 brothers. There will be no visitation. A memorial service will be held Saturday, March 23, 2002 at 5:00 pm at the Allegan Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses. Brother Ken Engleking officiating.
