Obituary

Monterey Twp., Hopkins, MI, died Tuesday, April 23, 2002 at the Laurels of Sandy Creek, Wayland. Mrs. Chambers was born May 5, 1919 in Holland, the daughter of William and Alice (Beekman) Kuhlman. She was a member of the Monterey Center United Methodist Church and had been employed by General Electric in Holland for 20 years, retiring in the mid 80's. Surviving are 2 daughters, Shirley Cook of Douglas and Alice (Larry) Gibson of Hopkins; 8 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; brother-in-law, Dale Gumser of California; sister-in-law, Gladys Kuhlman of Indiana; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edson, 1 brother, Elmer and 1 sister, June Gumser. Friends may meet with the family from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the Gorden Funeral Residence, Allegan Chapel, where funeral services will be held Friday at 11 a.m. Pastor Kenneth Reeves officiating. Interment Douglas Cemetery, Douglas, MI. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
