of Allegan, died at her home on Monday, March 15, 2010. Mrs. Carroll was born June 13, 1914 in Allegan, the daughter of Fred and Margaret (Hargie) Maskey Jr. Viola graduated from Allegan High School in 1932, attended Eastern Michigan University and graduated from Western Michigan University with a Bachelors Degree. She taught for over 25 years at Wayland High School as a French teacher and Drama coach. She took many trips to France with her students, and spent one summer studying at the Sorbonne in Paris. She was a member of the St. John's Lutheran Church. Surviving are her 7 children; David Carroll of Allegan, Jon and Mary Lou Carroll of Wayland, Patricia and Doug Niemi of Ludington, Margaret Carroll of Wayland, Michaele "Mickey" Carroll of Allegan, Mary Lou and Lee Reurink of Wayland, and Judy and Zachary Moushegian of Wayland, 9 grandchildren; Mya, Benta, Lindy, Terasa, Margie, Jason, Jamie, Jennifer and Tamara, 12 great grandchildren; Dylan, Dalton, Hadley, Henry, Emma, Marija, Kane, Kai, Kamille, Kru, Zachary, and Amelia, several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her husband, John, 1 daughter, Natalie, and her brother, Don Maskey. Friends may meet with the family on Thursday from 6-8 pm at the Gorden Funeral Residence, Allegan Chapel. The funeral service will be held on Friday at 11 am at the St. John's Lutheran Church, Allegan. Pastor Ronald Kruse will officiate. Interment Oakwood Cemetery, Allegan. Memorials may be made to the St. John's Lutheran Church.
