Obituary

of Allegan, died, Sunday, March 2, 2008 at her home. Mrs. Essink was born, June 19, 1930 in Holland, the daughter of Earl and Gertrude (Brower) Phillips. Viola graduated from Allegan High School in 1948, she went to County Normal, and then taught in several country schools in the Allegan area for many years. She was a life member of Dunningville Reformed Church. Surviving are 4 sisters, Thelma and Clifford Commissaris and Mary Coffey all of Allegan, Linda and Charles Prichard of Indiana and Julia Phillips of Arizona; 1 brother-in-law, Ervin Essink, of Holland; several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald, 1 brother-in-law, Howard Coffey, and sister, and brother-in-law, Ardith and Hollis Eding. Friends may meet with the family on Wednesday from 6-8 p.m. at the Gorden Funeral Residence, Allegan Chapel. Funeral services will be held at the Dunningville Reformed Church Thursday at 11 a.m. Pastor Tim Tenclay officiating. Interment Riverside Cemetery, Hamilton. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Church Building Fund.
