Allegan Twp., MI, died Thursday, November 8, 2007 at his home. Mr. Bennett was born June 4, 1941, in Lansing, the son of Chester and Marie (Knight) Bennett. He was a member and elder of the Genesis Church Ministries, Allegan Community Center. He was a graduate of Spring Arbor High School and received his Bachelor's Degree from Western MI Univ. He had been employed as a fisheries biologist for the State of MI DNR for 27 years, and had managed the Harrietta Fish Hatchery in Harrietta, MI, for 21 years. He loved the outdoors and deer hunting. Surviving are his wife, Lillian (Vargo); 5 children, Douglas and Edna Bennett of Cadillac, Bethany and Steve Golphin of Howell, Heather and Sal Bergamo of Metamora, Matthew and Wendy Amidon of Boon, and Kellie Wolthuis of Allegan; 5 grandchldren, Brandon, Christopher, Stephanie, Caleb, and Corrie; 1 brother, Eldon Bennett of Mason; 3 sisters, Annetta Dean of Florida, Joyce and Jack Hall of Ohio and Norma Payne of Concord; several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by a brother, Roland Bennett. Friends may meet with the family from 6-8 p.m. Sunday at the Gorden Funeral Residence, Allegan Chapel. Funeral services will be held Monday at 2 p.m. at the Genesis Ministries, Allegan Community Center. Pastor Jim Hocking officiating. Interment Hudson Corners Cemetery, Allegan Twp.
