Lovejoy, Verna C., Allegan, died Monday, January 7, 2002 in Allegan. Mrs. Lovejoy was born July 11, 1922 in Chicago, IL, the daughter of Henry & Louise (Fehsel) Carstens. Verna was a graduate of Allegan High School Class of 1940 and graduated in 1944 from Michigan State University. Verna worked for the American Red Cross during WWII, and retired from the Allegan Public School system in 1985 after 22 years of service. She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Allegan. Surviving are her 2 children; Jan Lovejoy of Allegan and Larry Lovejoy of Traverse City, 5 grandchildren; Abby, Emily, Tyler, Kace and Lydia; 1 great grandaughter, Annabelle. She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul and 3 sisters; Ella Martin, Frances Snow and Lina Miner. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 6-8 pm at the Gorden Funeral Residence, Allegan Chapel. A memorial service will be held Thursday at 11 am at the United Methodist Church in Allegan. Pastor Joseph Spackman will officiate. Interment Oakwood Cemetery, Allegan. Memorials may be made to the United Methodist Church or the American Cancer Society.
