Valley Twp., Allegan, MI, died Saturday, October 4, 2008 at Allegan Country Estates. Mrs. Bennett was born March 25, 1941 in Chicago, IL, the daughter of Floyd and Willie Belle (Williams) Bennett. She received her Bachelor's Degree from W.M.U. and her Master's Degree from Loyola Univ. of Chicago. She taught many years in the Chicago school system and also the Michigan Public School system. She had lived in the Allegan area for the past 30 years and was a published poet. Surviving are several nieces and nephews, including Brenda Bryant of Alabama, Horace Jackson of Detroit, Zena Jones and Donna Givens, both of North Carolina, Jeff Jackson of Missouri, Grace Alexander of Arkansas and Doyle Bennett of Ohio. She was preceded in death by her parents, sister, Juanita Jackson and brother, Charles L. Bennett. There will be no visitation. Funeral services will be held Thursday evening at 7 p.m. at the Gorden Funeral Residence, Allegan Chapel. Pastor Harriette Portrum officiating. Interment Millgrove Cemetery, Valley Twp.
