81, of Allegan, went home to be with his Lord on Sunday, April 28, 2013. He died peacefully at home surrounded by his family. Barney was born on July 3, 1931 in Chicago, Illinois, the son of Parsek and Zvart Knarian. In 1943, his family moved to Bloomingdale, Michigan. He graduated from Bloomingdale High School in 1950. He was a veteran Marine, having served during the Korean War. In 1954, he married the love of his life Barbara (Billings). They shared 58 years together. Barney was a member of the Allegan First Church of God. Barney and Barb were founding members of the Allegan County Snowmobile Club and enjoyed many years of sledding and fellowship with club members. He and Barb for years have enjoyed several winters with their snowbird friends in Gulf Shores, Alabama. Barney was a fan and armchair coach of all Detroit Sports, but mostly his beloved Tigers. Barney worked for Gibson Guitar and then the Michigan Liquor Control Commission until he retired in 1995. He is survived by his wife Barb; his children Tim (Glenda), Bill (Karen), Matt (Deb), and Sherry Knarian; his brothers Vahakn (Barbara), Vahee (Mary); his sisters Bergouhi McNutt and Margaret Baber. He was the proud grandfather of 15 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren, whom he loved and enjoyed more than anything in the world. Barney was preceded in death by his parents and two infant siblings. Friends may meet with the family on Thursday, May 2, 2013 from 11-12:00 Noon at Gorden Funeral Residence, Allegan Chapel until the time of the Memorial Service at Noon.
