of Allegan, passed away Sunday, August 14, 2011. Age 79 years. Thomas William Younger was born July 16, 1932 in Cleveland, Ohio, the son of the late William and Louella (Sanders) Younger. He served with the U.S. Air Force. Thomas worked for the City of Kalamazoo, retiring in 1987 after 14 years of service. He was a member of the American Legion in Kalamazoo. Thomas was a loving person who enjoyed traveling across the country, NASCAR racing, going to the casino and working in his yard. He was married to Gloria Gowens, she survives him. Surviving besides his wife are his daughter, Nancy Williams of Kalamazoo; two step-children, Jeff Gowens of Allegan and Sharon Smith of Kalamazoo; his grandson, Steve Smith Jr. of Allegan; three special nieces, Vera Younger of Kalamazoo, Melissa Gowens of Allegan and Yvette O'Bryant of Allegan; three special nephews, Duke, Terry and Mark Gowens all of Allegan; two brothers-in-law, Ronald Gowens of Kalamazoo and David Gowens of Allegan; his sister-in-law, Karen Spraggins of Traverse City. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Anthony and Melvin Younger. He will be sadly missed by his special companion, Angel. Friends may visit with the family on Thursday from 1:00-2:00 p.m. at the Gorden Funeral Residence, Allegan Chapel. V.F.W. Post #3030 will conduct a graveside service at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday at the Kendal Cemetery.
