Allegan, MI, went to be with his Lord Friday, January 26, 2007 in Battle Creek. Mr. Wuis was born March 27, 1920 in Fennville, the son of Simon and Rose (Sailor) Wuis. He grew up in Fennville and at the age of 17 joined the CCC for 18 months. On October 3, 1939 he joined the United States Army. He served for 6 A½ years during WWII, in the 3rd Infantry Division, and was highly decorated. He was a member of the Fennville V.F.W. Post #7911 and the Fennville United Methodist Church. He was a truck driver for several years after returning from the service, and farmed in the area for most of his life. He also worked at Mac-Sim-Bar in Otsego for more than 16 years and at the Eaton Corp. in Kalamazoo for many years. In 2005, he graduated from Fennville High School. He knew how important education was and went back and finished his classes. Tom loved life, he had a great sense of humor and loved his family. Surviving are 2 children, Diana Greene and Mary and Dan Durham all of Allegan; 9 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; 1 sister, Eva Mittendorf of Arizona; several nieces and nephews; and his life-long friend, Charlie Lewis, of Traverse City. He was preceded in death by his wife, Donna L. (Herring), whom he married March 5, 1948; his son, Robert; 8 sisters and 2 brothers; and a close family friend, Tom Slazinski. Friends may meet with the family from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. Monday at the Gorden Funeral Residence, Allegan Chapel, where funeral services will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. Rev. Ray Sundell, from the United Methodist Church in Fennville, officiating. Military graveside services will be conducted by the Otsego VFW Post #3030 at Hudson Corners Cemetery, Allegan Twp. Memorials may be made to Wings of Hope Hospice.
