Allegan, MI, died Sunday, Dec. 22, 2002 at Metron of Allegan, where she had resided with her husband, John, since their return from their winter in Florida. Mrs. Katherler was born June 20, 1911 in Bangor, the daughter of Lloyd Allen and Elsie May (Reynolds) Wanbaugh. She graduated from Bloomingdale High School and attended a business school in Kalamazoo, before marrying John Myron Katherler on June 20, 1935. Mrs. Katherler was active in the Allegan Community and the Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd, where she had served as a Sunday School teacher, a St. Agnes leader, and on the Church Altar Guild. She received the Bishop's Cross for her work and dedication to the Church. She was a Cub Scout, Boy Scout and Girl Scout leader and the Local Council Advisor. She was a Community Player, volunteered at the Allegan General Hospital, was a PTA Chairman, and served on the local Cancer Committee, and was a local artist and craftsman. Mrs. Katherler received the Outstanding Citizen Award for her work in the community of Allegan. Surviving are her husband, John; 3 children and their spouses, John and Carol Katherler of California, Sylvia and Allen Pixley of Monroe, and Diane and Warren Lessien of Coopersville; 4 granddaughters, Karen, Suzy, Joy and April and 1 great granddaughter, and many cousins, all of whom will miss her greatly. She was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Alan and Ralph. Memorial services will be held Saturday, Jan. 11, at 11 a.m. at the Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd. The Rev. LaRae J.
