In Loving Memory of Terry Schwab

October 11, 1962 – September 19, 2026

Terry Schwab passed away on September 19, 2026, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Throughout his fight, Terry showed the same strength, toughness, and determination that characterized the way he lived his life.

Terry spent most of his working life as a welder and construction worker. He was a hardworking man who wasn’t afraid to get his hands dirty and took pride in working with his hands. Those same skills carried over into one of his greatest hobbies, working on cars. Terry loved turning a wrench, fixing things, and enjoying the satisfaction of getting something running again.

Music was also an important part of Terry’s life, especially playing the guitar. When he wasn’t working on something or playing music, he enjoyed watching NASCAR, and there was always something comforting about having a fresh pot of coffee nearby.

More than anything, Terry loved his family. His children and grandchildren meant the world to him, and the time and knowledge he shared with them was more important than any hobby or possession.

Terry is survived by his children, Garrett Schwab, 30; Katelyn Schwab, 29; and Zach Schwab, 26, as well as his beloved grandchildren. They will carry with them the memories, lessons, stories, and love their father and grandfather gave them throughout his life.

Those who knew Terry will remember a hardworking man who enjoyed life’s simple pleasures. His long battle with cancer tested his strength, but it did not define him. Terry’s life was defined by the work of his hands, the music he played, the things he loved, and above all, the family he leaves behind.

Terry will be deeply missed, but pieces of him will remain in the everyday moments: the sound of a guitar, the rumble of an engine, a NASCAR race on the television, the smell of fresh coffee, and the stories shared among his children and grandchildren.

Terry’s family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Beacon Hospital in Kalamazoo, Michigan Cancer Center, and Allegan Cancer Center for the care and compassion shown to Terry throughout his journey. The family would also like to thank the staff at Gorden Funeral Residence & Chappell Funeral Home for their kindness, compassion, and support during this difficult time.

His fight is finally over, but his memory will live on through those who knew and loved him.

Rest easy, Terry. You worked hard, you fought hard, and you were deeply loved. You will never be forgotten.
