of Hopkins, died Wednesday, March 2, 2011, at his home. Mr. Palmer was born November 15, 1929, in Grand Rapids, the son of Gabriel and Bernice (Blanding) Palmer. On May 6, 1949, Stuart married Joyce A. Carpenter, who survives. Together they owned and operated the Plainfield Floral and Gift Shop for over 42 years. Stuart loved to sing and was a member of 2 barbershop quartets for over 20 years, Spartan-Aires and the Great Lake Chorus. They sang in Washington D.C. for President Eisenhower. Also surviving are his 3 daughters; Sandra Berry of Walker, Debrah and Dale Collins of TN, and Janice and Tim Miller of Shelbyville, 8 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, 1 brother, Gerald Palmer of Ionia, his sister, Ruth Kishefsky of Greenville, several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his 2 brothers, Eugene and Richard, and 2 A½ sisters, Joyce Kane and Kathryn Baisch. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be scheduled at a later date.
