Obituary

Allegan, MI, died Friday, August 22, 2008 in Kalamazoo. Stan was born July 2, 1933 in Kalamazoo, the son of Stanley W. and Thelma (Miller) Neal. He was a Veteran of the United States Air Force and the Marines. He graduated from Plainwell High School, Class of 1952. and was a member of New Hope Baptist Church in Allegan. He served as the Chief of Police for Delton and Middleville and also worked for the Kalamazoo, Barry and Allegan Sheriff Departments. Surviving are his wife, Sally; 7 children, Moreen and Brad Horsford of Clarklake, Shawn and Sybil Neal of Marcellus, Dane Neal of Climax, Kevin and Janet Neal of Mattawan, Michaeleen "Mikie" Neal of Middleville, Burr Neal of Allegan, and Jason and Sheena Neal of Allegan; 9 grandchildren; his mother, Thelma Neal of Kalamazoo; 4 sisters, Phyllis and Rick Garrett of Lowell, Eileen and Marshall Graham of Delton, Diana Stratton of Kalamazoo, and Dolores and Don Cook of Kalamazoo; several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his dad, Stan. Friends may meet with the family on Monday from 6-8 p.m. at the Gorden Funeral Residence, Allegan Chapel, where funeral services will be held Tuesday at 10 a.m. Pastor Tadd Butler from New Hope Baptist Church will officiate. Interment Fort Custer National Cemetery, Augusta. Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
