Shirley Mae Cullum, 83, of Allegan, Michigan passed away Thursday, July 25, 2019 at Ascension Borgess Hospital in Kalamazoo, Michigan. Shirley was born December 11, 1935 in Kalamazoo. She was the daughter of the late William and Ethel (Remington) Thomson and the wife of the late Archie Cullum. Shirley spent 30 years of her life working in shipping and receiving at Crescent Machine Company and continued on to work at Sav-A-Lot, where her hard work was appreciated every day. She was a dedicated employee and incredibly respected by staff and customers. When Shirley wasn't working her favorite pastime was to prepare meals to gather people together. Her passion for cooking was enjoyed and appreciated by her family and community. She was always there to provide help to anyone in any way that she could. She was a woman of faith and a member of the First Church of God in Allegan and shared her love for others freely and compassionately. Her spirit of generosity was felt by all who knew her, and she made a lasting impression in the hearts of many. Shirley is survived by her children, Dawn Sturgis, Arthur (Christine Taylor) Cullum, Diane Cullum, and Patricia (Greg Osborn) Cullum; her brother, Robert (Susan) Thomson; nine grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. Along with her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by her sister, Petra Summers; and her brothers, Duane Thomson, Bill Thomson and David Thomson. Friends may meet with the family at Gorden Funeral Residence, Allegan Chapel, on Sunday, July 28, 2019 from 6:00 - 8:00 PM with the funeral service being held on Monday, July 29, 2019 at 1:00 PM, Pastor Tim Secord officiating.
