Shirley May Cassidy, 84 of Allegan, Michigan passed away Tuesday, March 23, 2021 surrounded by her loving family. Born January 1, 1937 in Kalamazoo, Michigan, she was the daughter of the late Calvin and Mildred (Miller) Edwards. Shirley married and went on to raise a family of six children, whom she loved and adored. She spent time as a production worker for the Perrigo Company in Allegan while she also provided a comforting home in which she raised her children. A fun and loving woman by nature, Shirley was always there for her children and made sure they knew that they meant the world to her. Her spare time was spent sewing and working on word puzzles. In her later years, she moved to an apartment complex in Allegan and was fortunate to have wonderful neighbors and friends. Memories created and shared over the years will be treasured by her family. Shirley has definitely left a large void in their lives. Those left to cherish her memory are her six children, Tom (Cathy) Cassidy, Tim (Lisa) Cassidy, Helen Cassidy, Penny Cassidy, Jessica VanOmmen, and Ted (Chris) Cassidy; 13 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; one sister, Mary (Don) Gilman; and three brothers, Donald Edwards, William Edwards, and Jonathan Edwards. Along with her parents, Shirley was preceded in death by her five siblings, Ronald Edwards, Glen Edwards, Betty Keech, Marjorie Anderson and Jaclyn Edwards. Per Shirley's wishes, cremation has taken place. A celebration of her life will be held on Sunday, April 25, 2021 from 3:00 - 6:00 PM at Trowbridge Township Hall, 913 32nd Street - M40 South, Allegan, MI 49010.
