Salvatore "Sam" J. Passorelli, 85, of Heath Township, passed away Tuesday, August 9, 2016 at the Wings Home in Allegan, Michigan. Mr. Passorelli was born on November 29, 1930 in Grand Rapids, Michigan, the son of the late Frank and Veralda (Minciotti) Passorelli. He was a veteran of the United States Navy and always had a passion for the Navy and its submarines. The Navy relied on "Sammy" to clean out the torpedo chambers - his small stature fit perfectly inside them! On December 22, 1951, Sam married the love of his life, Irene, and together they raised seven children. He was a tool and dye man by trade, who helped to build up a multi-million dollar dye shop in Grandville, Michigan, working with the Big 3 Automakers. Sam always had to keep his hands busy. He loved to build things, the bigger, the better; but whatever he built had to serve a purpose. Building sheds, garages, renovating rooms; game on when Sam had something to build! This was also the time when you could hear him whistling - keeping his hands busy always brought the best out in Sam. Sam was a very tender and caring person, especially where his family was concerned. His children and their well-being were one of the most important things to him. When any of his children would get sick, Irene would listen to Sam and try and calm him down. He never wanted the kids to see just how much he worried about them. The love of a father runs deep. Sam is survived by his loving wife, Irene; their 7 children: Frank, Rob, Diana, Anita, Vince, Joe, Mike; 23 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and 1 sister. He was preceded in death by his parents, 1 brother and 1 sister. A private graveside service will be held at Restlawn Memorial Gardens, in Holland, Michigan, where interment will take place. He is now with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
