Ruth A. Stone, 90, of Allegan, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, July 21, 2016 at Borgess Medical Center in Kalamazoo, Michigan. Mrs. Stone was born on October 15, 1925 in Pullman, MI, the daughter of the late Carl and Dessie (Pickett) Goodwin. Ruth was a lifetime member of the First Baptist Church in Allegan and would spend many hours making crafts to help decorate the church and church reception hall for the special celebrations and events they would plan. She also enjoyed making stain glass, although most people would say that her favorite pastime was talking on the phone! Ruth loved to call her family and friends and would spend hours talking to one person after another. She was very close to her family and was blessed to have the love and support during her 90 years on earth. Due to health issues, towards the end of Ruth's life, she moved to a few assisted living facilities before going to the Allegan County Medical Care Community (ACMCC) for her last few years. Ruth's family would like to give special thanks to the Palliative Care Unit at Borgess Medical Center for the excellent care and kindness shown to Ruth and them during the final stages of Ruth's life. They would also like to acknowledge the wonderful care that ACMCC provided over the last few years. Ruth is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Don and Bonnie Stone; eight grandchildren: Heidi (Andrew) Clements, D'Arcy (Kris) Stone, Dessie (Scott) Caulk, Marc (Stephanie) Garlock; six great-grandchildren: Brendan Garlock, Roman Caulk, Samantha Stone, Stephanie Reou, Sabrina Reou, and Henri Isaac Clements; two great-great-grandchildren: Kiernan Nelson and Isabel Stone-Espana; one son-in-law, Tom (Cheryl) Garlock; one sister, Charlotte Merrill; two sister-in-laws: Virginia Stone and Suzanne Campbell; and many cousins, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Don (Stoney) Stone; son, Carl Stone; daughter, Katherine Garlock; three brothers: Wayne Goodwin, Ivan (Bub) Goodwin; and Norman Goodwin; one brother-in-law, Jerry Stone; and two sister-in-laws: Geraldine Goodwin and Evelyn Goodwin. Graveside services will be held on Friday, July 29, 2016, at Oakwood Cemetery in Allegan, at 11 am. Memorials may be made in Ruth's name to the First Baptist Church in Allegan, 1290 32nd Street, Allegan, MI 49010. Arrangements by the Gorden Funeral Residence, Allegan Chapel.
