Obituary

Aged 82, of Holland, MI, fomerly of Allegan, died Wednesday, March 2, 2005 at Zeeland Community Hospital. Mr. Waterman was born at home in Gobles, MI, the son of Elba and Alice (Russell) Waterman. He had been employed at Menasha for 29 years and at the same time ran an 80 acre dairy farm. He loved antique cars and enjoyed working at the Allegan County Fairgrounds at the historical gas station. He and his wife, Joyce, traveled throughout the United States and Canada and spent 18 of the last 20 years in Texas. He enjoyed working with wood in his retirement. He last attended the Free Methodist Church of Zeeland. Surviving are his wife, Joyce (Arndt), whom he married Aug. 20, 1948, having celebrated their 56th wedding anniversary; 2 children and their spouses, Steven and Ruth Waterman of Zeeland and Janet and Garry Strout of Wyoming; 6 grandchildren, Mike, Kathy, David, Julie, Justin and Rachel; 8 great grandchildren; 3 cousins, Maxine Mejeur, Helen Storey, and Bill Waterman. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Marilyn, in 1967. Friends may meet with the family from 6-8 p.m. Friday at the Gorden Funeral Residence, Allegan Chapel, www.gordenfuneral.com, where memorial services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. Pastors Jerry L. Van Kuiken and Robert Cosby officiating. Interment Mallory Cemetery, Trowbridge Twp. Memorial contributions may be made to Free Methodist Church of Zeeland, American Lung Assoc. or Parkinson's Assoc.
