of Monterey Twp., went home to be with his Lord on Tuesday, March 8, 2011 at his home surrounded by his family. Russell was born June 24, 1919, in Salem Twp., the son of Alvin and Eva (Barber) Coffey. On March 25, 1944, Russell married Neva M. Commans, who preceded him in death. Russell was a dairy farmer all of his life, he served on the Burnips Wesleyan Church board for over 30 years, and was a member for over 50. He served on the Monterey Twp. Board as Treasurer and Trustee for over 30 years. His commitment to his God, family and community was a great example to many. Surviving are his 6 children; Janice and Lee Jager of Burnips, Dale and Joy Coffey, Merle and Elaine Coffey, Arlyn and Kathy Coffey, and Marla and Bob Boyles all of Allegan, and Brenda and Jim Wobma of Wayland, 24 grandchildren, 31 great grandchildren, 2 brothers; Al and Joyce Coffey, and Keith and Beverly Coffey all of Hamilton, 2 sisters; Doris Hunderman of Byron Center, and Hilda and Arnold Kragt of Hamilton, many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was also preceded in death by his granddaughter, Mandy, 5 brothers; Carl, Clarence, Donald, Howard and Everett, 3 sisters; Edith Loew, Beulah DeVries and Hazel Pepper. Friends may meet with the family on Friday, March 11, from 2-4 and 6-8 pm at the Gorden Funeral Residence, Allegan Chapel. Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 1 pm at the Burnips Wesleyan Church. Pastors Steve Jones and William Osborne will officiate. Memorials may be made to the Wings Of Hope Hospice.
