Obituary

of Allegan, passed away peacefully, Saturday, April 9, 2016, at the Wings Home in Allegan. He was 91. Jim was born June 1, 1924, in Hopkins, the son of the late Elmer and Lola (Litzenburger) Sebright. He was the youngest of five brothers. Jim was a Veteran of World War II, having served his country as an artilleryman in the 5th Battalion, 11th Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division. He worked at Rockwell International for over 30 years, before retiring in 1976. Jim enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and was an avid gardener. He was a skilled woodworker, and loved creating beautiful things from wood, glass, metal, and Petoskey stones. His birdhouses, picture frames, and other creations grace hundreds of homes in the Allegan area and beyond. On August 31, 1946, he married Pauline Oisten, who preceded him in death in 2013. He is survived by his three children: Ron and Karen Sebright, Royal "Jim" Jr. and Jacki Sebright, Sheryl and Chris Carter, 5 grandchildren; six great grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by his infant son, Brian; and his four brothers. Jim was a very loving husband, father, and grandfather. Friends may meet with the family on Tuesday, April 12, 2016, from 2-4 pm, at the Gorden Funeral Residence, Allegan Chapel, where a memorial service will be held at 4 pm. The family requests that the men wear flannel shirts and jeans or bibs as a final tribute to Jim. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Wings Home, 530 Linn St., Allegan, MI 49010.
