Obituary

86, of Allegan, died Tuesday, October 22, 2013 at Ely Manor in Allegan, Michigan. He was born on October 9, 1927 in Allegan, the son of Carl and Edna (Johnson) Schweikert. Ross graduated from Allegan High School in 1945. Ross is a veteran of the United States Navy, having served during World War II, Korea, and Vietnam, duration of over 22 years. He was a member of the American Legion Post 89 for more than 72 years. Ross was also a long time baritone saxophone musician, and enjoyed playing with the River City Concert Band of Otsego. He is survived by Eric Schweikert, Karla Labby, Marlene Shriver, Edna Krueger, Craig Schweikert. He is preceded in death by his wife Barbara J (White) Schweikert, his brothers Norman and Niel, and his nephew Brad. Ross and Barbara always told each other whoever died first, they would wait for the other at the Augusta Light Rail Train Depot, so they could "be together til the end of time." In respect to Ross's wishes, no services will take place. An inurnment will be at Fort Custer National Cemetery, Augusta, Michigan, on Wednesday, October 30, 2013 at 2:00 P.M. Memorial Contributions may be made to: Wings of Hope Hospice and the River City Concert Band, Otsego. Arrangements are being made by Gorden Funeral Residence, Allegan Chapel.
