Ronald Lee Katje of Allegan, Michigan passed away Monday, November 21, 2022, at Trinity Mercy St. Mary's Hospital (Grand Rapids, MI) after a short illness. Ron was born December 22, 1950, to Cornelius and Ruth (Spaman) Katje, both of whom preceded him in death. After graduating from Martin High School in 1969, Ron served in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Arlington, VA, proudly serving in the Old Guard ceremonial unit. A loving husband to Diane (Rambadt) Katje for 52 years, father to Shana Lynn Katje (Corey) and Eric Cory Katje (Kaela), and grandfather to 2 beloved grandchildren, Emma, and Elyas. Ron is also survived by a sister Ruth Ann Gates (Roger), brother Richard Katje (Janis), brother-in-law Don Rambadt (Anita), sister-in-law Cheryl Tuinstra (Gary), and many nieces and nephews.

Ron loved the Lord and was deeply rooted in his Christian Faith. A hard worker, Ron developed a strong work ethic from a young age growing up on the family farm. This followed him throughout his career, as he was a valued team member at every company he served, including Rockwell International, Menasha Corporation, Cello-Foil Products, and USG (where Ron retired from in 2017). Ron loved to spend time with his children, grandchildren, and beloved cats (Smokey, Zoe, Zack, Cassie, and Rick). Ron and family spent many years vacationing at Eagle Lake where he loved to fish. He wasn't afraid to tackle the most challenging home improvement projects and had a knack for fixing just about anything.

According to Ron's wishes, cremation will take place. A memorial service to celebrate Ron's life will be held at Dunningville Reformed Church on December 10, 2022. Visitation 10am, service at 11am. Family and friends are welcome. The family requests that any contributions in memory of Ron be made to Dunningville Reformed Church or the SPCA of Southwest Michigan.
