of Holland, formerly of Allegan, died Sunday, August 21, 2011 at Zeeland Community Hospital. Mr. Young was born June 7, 1938, in Crawfordsville, IN, the son of Robert and Nora (Hammitt) Young. Bob was a Veteran of the United States Navy. He worked for over 20 years with the State of Michigan, Dept. of Corrections. He worked at Dunes Correctional Facility, Brooks Correctional Facility and the Kalamazoo Detention Center. He loved to restore old cars, and coached rocket football in Allegan for many years. Surviving are his wife, Patricia, 2 children; Veronica and Mark Wright, of IN, and Bob and Cathy Young of Wyoming, Michigan, 2 grandsons; R.J., and Micheal, 1 brother, Brooks and Celia Young of Hamilton, 3 sisters; Sharron Young of CA, Sally and Rich Teed of Hopkins, and Harriett and Mike Booth of FL, several nieces, nephews and cousins. Bob was preceded in death by his daughter, Stephany, and 2 brothers; Steven and Michael. Military graveside services will be conducted by the Otsego VFW Post 3030 and Pastor Davis Ives, on Wednesday, August 24, at 1 pm at Oakwood Cemetery, Allegan. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society. Arrangements by the Gorden Funeral Residence, Allegan Chapel.
